The registration of your brandname/trademark is the crucial step in protecting it.  Below, we detail the steps in the registration process and provide you with the associated costs for a U.S. and/or Canadian brandname/trademark registration.

To kick-off the registration process please print, fill, sign and fax us the U.S. and/or Canadian Trademark Disclosure Form and Retainer Agreement. It authorizes us to start the registration process on your behalf.

Order a U.S. Brandname/Trademark Registration * ... This includes the following steps and costs:

I) Drafting, finalizing and filing application, excluding the
   preparation of formal drawings, at the cost of US$,1000.00 up to
   US$1,100.00. The particulars are:

a) filing fees payable to the US Patent & Trademark Office (PTO) of
 US$245.00 for one  class.  If the registration is to cover more than one class, there is an added disbursement of US$245.00 per class;

b) reviewing and forwarding communications from US Patent & Trademark Office including filing receipt;

c)  any amendments and Notice of Allowance;

d)  reviewing and filing Extension Requests, if applicable;

e) communicating with client about necessary specimens;

f)  preparing and filing Affidavit of use, including a charge of $100.00
payable to the PTO; and

Pricing, Payment, Corporate Accounts

g)  conveying Registration Certificate

You can expect the cost to file an actual use application for one
class including the government fees and the full availability  search to
be in the range of US$1,335.00 and an intent to use application in the
range of $1,685.00.  If an objection,  opposition or other complication
arise, we will arrange on your behalf, prosecution services at standard
hourly rates to  address such issues, with your prior approval. These
charges are divided over the 18 to 24 months it takes to obtain a
registration.

After the application is filed, our trade-mark agent/attorney will respond to any "office actions" or other objections raised by the PTO. Finally, assuming the mark is registered, we will obtain and forward the
registration certificate, along with an explanation of how to maintain and protect the mark after registration.
The above service proposal is subject to a retainer agreement whereby
you would provide us with a financial deposit for the full amount prior
to the commence of work and an authorization to act on your behalf.

Order a Canadian Brandname/Trademark Registration *...  It includes the following steps and costs:

I. Preparation and filing of a new trademark application, excluding the preparation of formal drawings (CDN$350.00)

II) Canadian Government Filing Fee (CDN$150)

III) Response to Office Action (CDN$250)

IV) Correspondence to issue of Registration Certificate (excluding opposition, extensions and other related fees) (CDN$500.00)

You would also need to pay any express mail charges incurred on your behalf.  These charges are divided over the 10-12 months, barring any objections or oppositions, it takes to obtain a registration.  Based on the above, you can expect to pay approximately CDN$1250.00 for a Federal Canadian Trademark registration.
